Baby Kira

I've known my good buddy Jim nearly as long as I've known my wife Danielle. We met at Providence Church in Avon, Ohio when I started attending college. I played drums for the Providence worship ministry. Jim played guitar, and he was also one of the pioneering sound technicians when Providence moved into its new Avon facility.

I remember when Jim first introduced me to his girlfriend Sarah. I could tell how genuinely happy they were together. I had a feeling this would be a lasting relationship.

And they got married! Did I call that one or what?

At the reception, each of the guests was given a little pouch with three candy almonds in it. The almonds symbolized Health, Wealth and Fertility.

I quickly ate the first two almonds, but when the bride and groom came around, I handed Jim the pouch with the last almond. I said, in a very secretive sort of way,

"Guys, this is the Fertility almond. You can eat this whenever you're ready."

Jim took the almond and said, "You are so weird!" It was a compliment I'll never forget.

I took the picture below as proof that I didn't eat the almond:

Taken on a disposable camera at our table. This is why Danielle is the photographer.

A lot of time passed since Dani and I got to see the newlyweds. We started missing our friends, so we got a group together and saw "The Muppets" when they hit the big screen.

As the previews started, I got a text from Jim, who was sitting a few seats down. It said,

Looks like the almond worked man... we are expecting!

I looked down the row and Jim had the biggest smile.

Kira Jean is the most beautiful little miniature human I've ever seen!

Sarah says that when Kira furrows her brow, she looks a lot like her dad. I have to agree.

The Zellers' puppy Archie kept trying to interrupt Kira's glamour shoot...

Thanks to Jim, Sarah and Kira for letting us be a part of such a special time!
